16-19 Discretionary Bursary FundThe government has granted a small amount of money for schools to provide support for students who face the greatest barriers to continuing their education in the Sixth Form. This letter, and attachments, provide a brief explanation of the fund and encourages any student and their parents/carers to apply for support should they feel they qualify.A student may qualify for the Bursary Fund if he/she is not supported by parents, or if parents meet one of the following criteria:
  • You have a low family income
  • can supply evidence of financial hardship that will impact on your son/daughter’s studies. Examples of such evidence include current Working Tax Credit Award Statement, evidence of Job Seekers’ Allowance, Housing Benefit or Income Support, which now come under Universal Credit. We need to see 3 most recent monthly award UC statements, which can be sent to us as screenshots.
The funds available are limited and will be awarded to the students most in need.An application form is attached to this letter and further information regarding the qualifying criteria can be found by following the link below or on the Sixth Form area of the school website. Please be assured that all applications will be treated in the strictest confidence. If you would like to discuss an application, please contact our Key Stage 5 Administrative Officer, Elena Hornett by email via elena.hornett@nobel.herts.sch.uk[ut_button color="theme-btn" target="_self" link="https://thenobelschool.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Bursary-application-2025.pdf" size="small" ]16-19 Bursary Application Form[/ut_button][ut_button color="theme-btn" target="_self" link="https://thenobelschool.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Bursary-guidance.pdf" size="small" ]16-19 Bursary Guidance[/ut_button]

Following discussions between the Board of Governors and Hertfordshire County Council, on the property matters relating to the change of status of Nobel School from a community school to a foundation school, the Board of Governors has determined a change to the proposed implementation date, from 1st September 2016 to 5th January 2017.This postponement will not have any material affect on teaching and learning at school but will allow the Board of Governors and the Council some additional time for further necessary discussions on property matters.

A/AS Level Results Day:

A/AS Level results will be published on Thursday 18 August.  Year 13 students can collect their results from 8:30.  Year 12 students can collect their results from 10:00am

GCSE Results Day:

GCSE results will be published on Thursday 25 August and students will be able to collect them from school from 8:30am.In addition to collecting their results, this is a time for students to confirm their plans for September and those wishing to accept their place in our Sixth Form will sign up for their courses in the auditorium. For those students not returning there will be advice available from our Connexions adviser and an opportunity to meet with representatives from Nova Training and other apprenticeship providers.Traditionally students have come on their own to collect their results and sign up for courses based on discussions they have already had at home. However, we do recognise that not all decisions are straightforward and would welcome any parents who would like to accompany their child to discuss their options with a member of staff or external adviser. If your child is unable to collect their results in person and you would like someone else to collect them please email Jackie Behagg our exams officer (jackie.behagg@nobel.herts.sch.uk) with the details. Alternatively you can provide us with a self addressed envelope with relevant postage attached and we can post them home.Making sure all students are engaged in the right Post-16 pathway, which maximises their chances of success, is a fundamental part of our school ethos. If your child is still unclear on their plan for September and you would appreciate some additional support either before or after results day please contact Mr Grinyer who will arrange a time for you to come and discuss the options available.
