The Nobel School is a very exciting and vibrant Ofsted rated “Good” secondary school with 1490 on roll, covering the full age and ability range, the majority of whom continue their education into our flourishing sixth form.We are committed to delivering an education that provides students with the relevant skills and experiences to prepare them for further education and the world of work, but also to develop their character to become fully fledged members of society.Our Food Technology department provides excellent facilities for high quality teaching, with fully equipped kitchens and technician support.  The working environment is excellent with all staff employing outstanding teamworking skills.  At KS3, we have an enriching and engaging curriculum with the opportunity for students to enhance their passion for Food Technology with our extracurricular clubs. We teach on rotation with 4 hours per fortnight, which includes a 2-hour practical lesson and 2 one-hour lessons for theory and teacher demonstrations. At GCSE, Food Preparation and Nutrition is a popular option with 2 GCSE groups, we have 6 hours a fortnight with at least one 2-hour practical lesson. The Food Technology department is exemplary with consistently high achieving results at GCSE.This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Food Technology team. At KS4 our students’ make excellent progress, above that of other schools nationally. Performance in English and maths are above national trends. The school has made excellent progress in Ebacc subjects as well as our other option subjects. In addition, the school has made significant improvements for vulnerable groups. Our average P8 score over the last 3 years is +0.39, 9-5 63%. KS5 outcomes have been consistently strong with our Alps three-year T-score being 3 for both A Level and Vocational. The size of The Nobel School Sixth Form has increased year on year, with students achieving fantastic results and progressing into further education. Working closely with pastoral leaders and senior staff, the postholder will support the consistent implementation of the school’s Behaviour for Learning policy, oversee internal sanctions and alternative provision processes, and use data-informed approaches to implement effective interventions that lead to positive outcomes for students.We are looking for someone who will embrace the ethos of the school and the successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to driving up behaviour standards and inspiring the same in others. Our team of duty officers are responsible for the smooth running of the school’s letting programme at weekends, in the evenings and during the school holidays.  Hirers currently include educational, musical, church and sporting organisations, and we will shortly be expanding this to individuals and small groups for casual bookings.You will be organised and reliable, with experience in basic computer software packages.Usually working with a colleague, on a typical day you may be asked to open up the school, set out equipment for hirers, staff the reception area, deal with queries from current and potential hirers, clear down and lock up.  During exam season you may be asked to set up or clear down from exams, for which an additional fixed payment is made.  Further payments will be made if you are invited to join the out-of-hours on-call rota.There are no fixed hours for the role, but you should expect to work a largely regular pattern of around five hours per week, usually within the hours of 8am-2pm on Saturday or Sunday.  Some flexibility is expected to cover colleagues’ holidays, and additional weekend and evening hours may be available by agreement.We offer quarterly payments in lieu of paid holidays, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and a cycle to work scheme.The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.  We welcome applications from applicants regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.If you would like to visit Nobel, have any queries about this post or would like to apply for this post, please contact Lewis Rogers (lewis.rogers@nobel.herts.sch.uk).
